Summer Begins!

Hey Everybody! Ohh, how I miss you all. Andrea, that email you sent out about the P10 vacation got me so excited. Also, I absolutely loved the excel spreadsheet... haha, so organzied and wonderful! Thanks for all your hard work on that. I thought I should send out an update to keep this blog going. I haven't done one in about.. forever. So - I am all done my first year of university! It went by so fast... it was an amazing year and I enjoyed almost every moment of it. Dorm life got to be old by the end of it, yet once the end was there I got very nostalgic. Having everybody there in one place was amazing... life was one big social gathering! However, I am also so excited for next September, as I am living with five amazing people. We have an adorable little house... we're so excited to paint, and decorate, and barbeque, and do all those wonderful housewarming things. As for now, I'm home for the summer, and very glad to be! I'm working in the proshop at Deer Creek, a golf course that's pretty close to here. I really like it. I have a great boss and the people are all so friendly. Golfers are in very good moods when they come into the proshop, so it's a nice, happy, social place to work. I'm getting to know all the regulars... it's fun! I have a few people waiting for me to get them free golf... mostly my boyfriend Luke. However, Lydia is also waiting for me to get her some discounts at the Keg - it's a steakhouse restaurant. I worked there last year, and might give them a call. I have yet to do that.. I've been getting a ton of shifts at the golf course so it's kind of optional, but we'll see. I hope you all are doing well... humour me and give everybody an update! I love you all, em p.s. here's a picture of me in my dorm room - how I loved the place. :)

Aubrey Rose turned 1!!

So I thought Sheri did a wonderful job at rejuvenating our blog. Her work inspired me to do an update as well. We have been having fun in Cali. The weather has been absolutely beautiful here. I am in shorts and short sleeve and it feels nice! Is there still snow up in Canada?! The biggest news around our house is Aubrey Rose turned ONE! You don't think those milestones are as big of a deal until you have your own child. Or at least that was my take on it. :) We had a fun party at our house to celebrate. I sent an email to a bunch of you with more pictures. If you did not get the email...believe me I am not about leaving anyone out ever...you can email me at cherie@smittcamp.com. So just let me know! I try to send updates regularly. Or you can keep updated with Blake, Aubrey Rose and I on our blog at smittcamp.blogspot.com. Here are a couple of pics from Fresno...
Chelsey and I love to spend as much time together as possible. She is nanny for two different families, one on Monday and one on Wednesday. We love to have playdates because than Chelsey and I can have our own playdate! We love it! One of our playdates, we took her two boys to a place called PumpItUp. The boys loved it. Aubrey Rose...not so much! She preferred the solid ground rather than the blown up fun houses. Chelsey and I were so hot and sweating after trying to keep up with the boys. It was so fun!

Penner's in Sedona!

Hi Y'all! The Ontario Penner's (except Whitby) have just returned from an amazing, fun filled week in Sedona, Arizona! For those of you that haven't been there, we all recommend that you go - even those of us that were initially skeptics are now HUGE FANS. The setting is absolutely gorgeous and the weather (for us anyway) was perfect - no rain and 75 degrees. The whole Dave Penner clan was there except for Drew and Pete, who we missed very much (but were still happy it was them and not us). We spent our days hiking, shopping and lounging by the pool. Is that what living in California is like? We also went to the Grand Canyon which truly is Grand and clearly proof that God exists. We did some Old West sight seeing and picked up some darn tootin cowboy hats and boots (note me, Chris & Maddie in the picture wearing our new duds). The condo we stayed at was perfect for us - 3 separate units beside each other, right beside an Arizona garden where the kiddies played with Papa, Jessi, Uncle Brian...whoever they could conn into it for hours every day. By day two Maddie (who is still only two) learned that she could get up in the morning and just walk outside to Papa and Gramma's condo without telling anyone. Luckily their door was always open. Thanks to Mom and Dad for planning this awesome vacation! -Sheri

Exciting news!!

Hey everyone, Hope all is well for everyone. I like the idea of Mexico...I've never been and would love to hang out on the beach. Yay!! Anyway, I thought I'd share my excitement with all of you and tell you that Ty and I are finally engaged! Some of you hopefully remember Ty from our family reunion up in Whistler....well he wasn't actually in Whistler but he came over to our house to hang out when we got back. Anyone who hasn't met him, I would love you to meet him soon. We're thinking about getting married labour day weekend (September 5th or 6th), possibly on Vancouver Island. I would love you all to come. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know. Love Jemina

Hey Family,

Just wanted to share with you Christopher's FIRST birthday invitation! And of course, if you are in town, nearby or want to fly in ... YOU ARE SOOOO WELCOME!! I don't think you will be able to read the first part which says, "Step right up, come on down, Christopher's Carnival has come to town! There'll be food and games and tons of fun, Cause' the Litte Peanut is turning ONE!" =) With love, Jon, Andrea and Christopher!

Canadian Curling Dream Team!

Hi All! Sorry to tell you all that you missed a fabulous weekend in the great white North. The Klassens (Chris, Jul, Chelsea, Isabelle and Joyce) and Moore's (Scott, Sheri & Madalyn) spent the weekend at the cottage in Marmora. Jul almost led her team of curlers to a victory but their utter lack of skill and experience led to their ultimate demise. Luckily the free drinks and cookies were enough to buoy their spirits and make them feel like winners anyway. Chelsea, Isabelle, Maddie and I kept ourselves busy while the curlers were away by building snow forts and drinking hot chocolate. Jul and I kicked biscuit (I think it's catching on Chelsey!) at President's and Slaves (aka "Prime Ministers and Public Servants" here in Canada or "Big Biscuit, Little Biscuit" in California). We finished the weekend off with near California temperatures of 2 degrees C! that allowed us to spend all day outside on Sunday, skating and pummelling each other with snowballs. Jon, Alison, Mike and Chelsey...you would have been proud. I could have tripped Jul into a facewash but she pulled the old "stop, stop, I'm pregnant!" act. Anyway, just wanted to keep you in the loop and give you a little Canadian news, since you never get it on TV! Miss you all. -Sheri PS. Jul - see if you can post a few of those pic's you took on the weekend.
